What is a small-sized farm?

A small-sized farm is one that earns less than 250 thousand dollars a year.  These farms are most often independent farms.  That means that they are worked by the families that own them. These farms are more likely to grow specialty and organic crops.  Crops and livestock produced on the farm are used by the family and the community.  Many of the products are sold locally at farmers markets.

The small-sized farm earns less than corporate and middle-sized farms.
