What are the different types of food?

There are many different types of food.  Food is typically divided into groups based on how healthy they are for you. Many suggest using USDA MyPyramid or the MyPlate diagrams.  These diagrams help to make sure you are eating the right amount of each food group.

There are 5 major food groups:

1) Vegetables

2) Protein

3) Fruits

4) Grains

5) Dairy
