4-H Learning Network as a CoP!

An eXtension Community of Practice (CoP) consists of individuals with an interest in learning as well as those interested in creating content in an online environment. As an eXtension CoP, the 4-H Learning Network” strategically supports learning for young people through an online learning environment. The 4-H Learning Network approach works around four primary “themes” of Get Science, Be Healthy, Live Responsibly, and Serve Others. Accordingly, content is and will be provided in a variety of areas in science, healthy living, responsible living, and service in a very broad manner accommodating many topics. Our target audience is, as the land-grant university mission of extension puts forth, the youth population of which 4-H is a primary part. National 4-H Mission Mandates established by the U.S. Department of Agriculture of science, healthy living, and citizenship are accommodated as are many other content areas originating from the land-grant system. Land-grant university faculty, Extension professionals in various discipline areas including 4-H Youth Development, other education and technical professionals, adult and youth leaders, and others collaboratively contribute to the youth serving domain creating content and support for multiple learning communities.
